Mii Characters: Frequently Asked Questions

A Mii is a digital avatar character created and used on Nintendo gaming systems including the Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch.

Miis are customizable avatars representing you or any character you create, featuring:

A Mii QR code is a scannable image that contains all the data needed to recreate a Mii character on your Nintendo system.

How to Scan a Mii QR Code:

1. On your 3DS or Wii U, open Mii Maker
2. Tap "QR Code/Image Options"
3. Select "Scan QR Code"
4. Point your camera at the QR code
5. The Mii will appear - tap "OK" to save

There are a few reasons Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is yet to be supported.

• The format is still very new and being worked to be understood in its entirety, as the game is still new and does not feature an official sharing method.
• The rendering is still not even understood very well for Tomodachi Life (3DS), which while efforts are being made, is still a game over a decade old. This new game supports much more, and will likely take longer (This is subjective and subject to swift and unexpected invalidation, but it is still not currently possible).
• Other sites that do only support screenshots and photos of the screen, which while this works and is entirely an option, is not up to quality and presentation standards we wish to use when any image could be uploaded instead of controlled Mii uploads, which makes moderation 10x harder, especially with the expanded freedom the game presents.
• We technically don't even have Switch rendering! You may notice this if you upload a Switch Mii with certain glasses types, they get backported to ver3 format. This is because we use a Wii U renderer, which works for everything including Switch Miis, save for a couple glasses types. Colors are just easy to inject and therefore the Wii U renderer works for 97% of Switch Miis, and the ones that don't are only a glasses type off.
• There is a certain safety to not supporting the latest and greatest thing in the world of fansites where giving too much enhanced functionality can put you in a legal grey area. This site has been carefully limited to minimize this risk, such as the lack of an onboard Mii maker. This would've taken very little effort to setup, it was a conscious exclusion for legal safety.
• There's far less creativity to a Mii in our eyes when you can literally take an MS Paint to the face, and this site is designed to showcase creativity at its finest.

All that being said, if the format comes to be understood better, and rendering becomes possible, we may come to support this in the future, which we as the site creators are actually actively looking into, experimenting, and researching for.
